Today in Geneva the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the Port Authority of Nantes Saint-Nazaire have signed an agreement to form the port operators in developing nations. The agreement was signed for the UNCTAD Secretary General Supachai Panitchpakdi and the Grand Port Maritime de Nantes Saint-Nazaire by President Jean-Pierre Chalus.
The agreement falls under the training program that is aimed at TrainForTrade port port communities of French-speaking countries in developing and providing for the organization of training seminars and the dispatching of experts. This program has so far allowed the formation of over 600 port operators from 17 countries of Africa, Asia and Latin America with the operation of 42 training courses.
