The president of the Sicilian Region, Rosario Crocetta, in sight of the effectiveness next thursday of I decree 28th July of reorganization of the Italian ports approved of from the government, has sent to the minister of Infrastructures and the Transports, Graziano Delrio, a demand for delay, for a period of 36 months, of the Harbour Authorities of Catania, Messina and Trapani.

The provision previews the abolition of current the 24 national Harbour Authorities and the institution of 15 Authorities of Harbour System (AdSP). The reform previews that the port of Catania, with that of Augusta, is managed by the Authority of Harbour System of the Sea of Sicily Oriental, while the port of Messina, with the ports of Gioia Tauro, Crotone, Corigliano Calabro, Taureana of Palmi, Villa San Giovanni, Milazzo, Tremestieri, Vibo Valentia and Reggio Calabria, is managed by the Authority of Harbour System of the seas Tyrrhenian Southern, Jonio and of the Strait.

The reform previews that the port of Trapani, than currently it is moreover not managed by a Harbour Authority, agency of which is established the liquidation in 2007, falls back under the jurisdiction of the Authority of Harbour System of the Sea of Western Sicily that will manage also the ports of Palermo, Termini Imerese and Porto Empedocle.
