In the European Union the industry of the shipping directly gives to job to 640 thousand people



and contributes to the Gross Domestic Product one of the EU with 57 billion euros (given relative to 2015). It evidences the last update of the relationship on the economic value of the field of the marine transports of the EU that the European Community Shipowners' Associations (ECSA) has commissioned to Oxford Economics. The precise relationship that, counting also the moltiplicativo effect on the supply chain and the occupation, the supported total places of work from the industry of the shipping go up to 2,1 million and the contribution total of the field to the GDP European is of 140 billion euros (given 2015).

The ECSA has found that the relationship moreover indicates that, with 89.000 euros for every worker of the shippnig in 2015, the productivity of the field of the marine transports of the EU remains European better-than-average so as that of fields as the manifacturing one and the health.

"The last data of Oxford Economics - it has observed the general secretary of the ECSA, Patrick Verhoeven - evidence that the shipping it continues to give to a remarkable contribution to the European agenda for the increase and the occupation". Verhoeven however has specified that the relationship finds that regarding the data of the 2013 field has recorded a modest increase of the occupation and the added value that in that year were respective pairs to 632 thousand people and 55,8 billion euros (given updated regarding the relative relationship of Oxford Economics per year 2013 diffused originally).

Of 640 thousand places of work guaranteed directly from the industry of the shipping in 2015, the 347 thousand one they are relative to the activity of marine transport of goods (included the dredging and towing activities), 191 thousand to the activity of marine transport of passengers, 68 thousand in the field of the services for the offshore industry and 7 thousand in the segment of the activities of chartering and leasing. Of 640 thousand occupied directly from the marine section, 516 thousand (81% of the total) are working boarded on the ships, of which 207 thousand (40%) of nations of the EU and European Economic Spazio and 309 thousand (60%), of other working nationalities, and 124 thousand employed to earth (19% of the total).
