Last year, the Campania ports of Naples and Salerno handled a total of 31.88 million tons of goods, with an increase of +2.5% on 2023, of which 18.98 million tons handled by the port of the regional capital (+2.4%) and 12.90 million tons from the Salerno port (+2,6%).

In particular, 11.58 million tons of miscellaneous goods (+1.8%), of which 6.83 million tons container loads (+8.2%) made with the handling of 646,409 TEUs (+8.5%) and 4.75 million tonnes of rolling stock (-6,1%). Liquid bulk cargo also increased, totaling 6.12 million tonnes (+5.3%), including 4.84 million tonnes tons of refined petroleum products (+5.3%), 1.10 million tonnes of gaseous, liquefied or compressed and natural gas (+1.2%) and 184 thousand tons of other liquid loads (+38.6%). Dry bulk cargo fell by -5.1% falling to 1.28 million tons, of which 540 thousand tons of metallurgical products (-12.5%), 313 thousand tons of cereals (+26.8%), 2 thousand tons of minerals and building materials (+70.3%) and 442 thousand tons of other dry bulk (-12.5%).

In Salerno, the total volume of miscellaneous goods was 12.31 million tons (+2.2%), with containerized goods equal to 4.25 million tons (+8.0%) and made by moving 358,316 TEUs (+3.6%), with rolling stock amounting to 7.10 million tons (-1.3%) and other miscellaneous goods to 953 thousand tons (+4,6%). Dry bulk traffic amounted to 586 thousand tons (+12.6%).

In 2024, passenger traffic of maritime services in the port of Naples was 7.63 million people (+8.4%), of which 6.66 million passengers local (+10.3%) and 971 thousand ferry passengers (-3.4%). The cruise passengers were 1.74 million (+6.4%), including 237 thousand embarked and disembarked in port (+11.0%) and 1.50 million in transit (+5,7%).

Last year in Salerno passengers of scheduled services were 1.18 million (+8.1%), of which 1.08 million from local services (+9.2%) and 101 thousand ferries (-2.8%). Cruise traffic is state of 87 thousand passengers all in transit (-7.8%).

In the fourth quarter of 2024 alone, the port of Naples handled a total of 4.55 million tons of goods, with a slight increase of +0.4% on the same period of the year previous, of which 1.63 million tons of cargo containerized (+3.0%) totaled with a handling of containers equal to 160,122 TEUs (+8.4%), 1.03 million tons of rolling stock (-10.8%), 1.59 million tonnes of liquid bulk (+10.4%) and 303 thousand tons of dry bulk (-14.8%).

The port of Salerno closed the period October-December of 2024 with a total traffic of 3.24 million tons of goods (+8.4%), of which 1.66 million tonnes of rolling stock (-1.2%), 1.14 million tonnes million tons of goods in containers (+10.6%) with a handling of containers equal to 94,613 TEUs (+5.3%), 269 thousand tons of other miscellaneous goods (+44.8%) and 165 thousand tons of dry bulk (+91.3%).
