
The Italian shipbuilding group Fincantieri has signed a
agreement with Accenture, one of the world's leading companies
of professional services, for the establishment of a joint venture of
Fincantieri Ingenium which will be 70% owned by
Fincantieri NexTech, a subsidiary of the Fincantieri Group, and 30% from
Accenture. The agreement - explained the two parties - stems from the
memorandum of understanding signed in July 2024 and combines expertise
technology of Fincantieri in the naval sector with advanced
Accenture's digital skills

In particular, Fincantieri Ingenium was created to accelerate the
digital transformation in the cruise, defence and
port infrastructure and to play a key role in the
in the implementation of the strategy envisaged in the business plan
of Fincantieri. The goal is to strengthen
the offer of digital services and systems based on the most
technologies, including artificial intelligence, by optimising
the entire supply chain through the use of data and transformation
of trials. The intent is to combine the extensive experience of
Accenture in the field of digital platforms, artificial intelligence,
connectivity and IoT, cybersecurity and service design with the
specific technological expertise of Fincantieri in the naval and naval sector
of the defense.
Among the first strategic initiatives of the new company
there is the development of Navis Sapiens, the digital ecosystem
designed for new generation ships and for the upgrade of the
existing fleet. The project is divided into three dimensions:
development of a portfolio of application services to optimize
operational efficiency and lifecycle management of ships, and
ground infrastructure; the creation of a platform
digital technology capable of enabling the use of applications and

ensuring IT security and, finally, a
marketplace to create a platform for the exchange of solutions,
including third parties, with the aim of offering high-quality services
added value and enable new business models for the entire
maritime ecosystem. The first ship equipped with Navis Sapiens
will enter service by the end of this year.
In a synergistic way with respect to Navis Sapiens, it is expected
and the enhancement of connectivity and exchange
real-time data between ships and the terrestrial ecosystem -
including ports and construction sites - through a solution of
Sea-land interoperability aimed at increasing efficiency
inter-functional processes. Accenture and Fincantieri have
highlighted that this project will allow, among other things, to
strengthen the competitiveness of Italian ports, improving
efficiency along the entire value chain, both maritime and
and the performance of port operations.
