Finland's Nurminen Logistics and Italy's Tarros have Announced today the inauguration of a new intermodal corridor between the Scandinavian Peninsula and the Mediterranean with a service that complements the company's Sweden-Italy rail link with the land, terminal and maritime network of the La Spezia group. The two partners have signed an agreement commercial and operational for the activation of a service door-to-door transport that includes rail, land and shipping, terminal handling, customs clearance and related documentation. In particular, the new corridor integrates the Nurminen Logistics train service between Örebro, in Sweden, and Parma, in Italy, with the maritime network of the Tarros group through the Gulf Terminal (TDG) of the port of La Spezia. Located just 109 kilometers from La Spezia, Parma serves as a hub rail; from here the goods are transported by road to the TDG for continue by sea.

Nurminen operates its own train service between Örebro and Parma, with two weekly departures in each direction and a of rail transit of 2.5-3 days. The service welcomes shipments ranging from single pallets and other LCL loads to FCL and full trains. From La Spezia, the Tarros maritime network connects the service to the main markets of North Africa, Eastern Mediterranean and Malta. In addition, Tarros and his company Carboxes provide land transport, handling and terminal and maritime transport necessary along this route.

For container shipments with the new service, the goods it remains in the same container for the entire intermodal journey. I transit times depend on the origin and destination of the shipping, as well as from the sea departures available from La Spezia.
