The Port System Authority of the Tyrrhenian Seas
Southern and Ionian has entrusted the excavation of the seabed and the
completion of the electrification of the docks of the port of
Gioia Tauro. The intervention to complete the dredging of the canal
port was awarded to the Spanish company
Dravo SA, which has already carried out these activities in the
Calabrian airport, and is aimed at bringing the
seabed along the southern evolution basin and the Eranova quay,
thus achieving an overall channel depth
between -17 and -19 meters. The project investment amounts to
five million euros.
The completion of the cold ironing system was
entrusted to the temporary consortium of companies set up by Saet
Spa and Suardi Spa. In parallel with the construction works of the
electrical substation and the second power supply cabin of the
Dock electrification system, for an investment
of €30 million, extendable to €70 million,
is in fact proceeding with the completion of the first lot with the
realization of an additional cold irony grip. Overall,
with the construction of the second substation and related works
electromechanical, the eastern quay will be equipped with
five electrical sockets, three with the first lot and two planned
as part of the second intervention. The entire infrastructure
will reach a total power of 160 Megawatts, capable of
to meet the energy needs of port infrastructures
and the operational needs of the terminal operator Medcenter Container
Terminal, through the construction of nine cold ironing sockets for
supply of container ships and one serving ships
ro-ro. The overall electrification program of the
port infrastructure of Gioia Tauro exceeds 100 million euros in
investments.
