the local authorities have undersigned the understanding protocol in order to requalify the port of Piombino



Today to Piombino, with the signature of the involved local authorities - Tuscany Region, Province of Livorno, Municipality of Piombino - and of the Harbour Authority of Piombino, the understanding reached 26th July between the ministries of the economic Development, the Economy, Infrastructures and the Atmosphere for the start of the participations of infrastructuring, requalification and reindustrialization of the harbour area of Piombino is perfected.

The objective of the agreement is to make of the port - returning it available also to ships of adapted tonnage to serve the area iron worker - flies, with the investments on the practicability, for the ripartenza of a particularly hit territory from the crisis.

The protocol sanctions the firm political will to assure the completion of the picture of the resources, pairs to about 133 million euros, necessary for the realization of the participations of infrastructural character contained in the program agreement picture previewed from article 1, codicil 6, of the bill 26 April 2013, n. 43 (converted with modifications from law 24 june 2013, n.71). With the bill they have been emanated dispositions, which the agreement of program will give performance, in order to start and to complete the participations of infrastructuring of the port of Piombino, of reclamation and industrial requalification of the area, to the aim to open new lease on life of productive and occupational development. In the detail, beyond 110 million euros they are destined to the real infrastructural participations, also to environmental character, in performance of the new Portuale Town development plan for I throw again of the industrial and harbour competitiveness of Piombino. The remaining resources financial institutions will be employed for the realization of investigations of characterization, reclamation and mass in safety of the area. At last the "riser" of connection between the harbour area and the tirrenica superhighway will be realized, essential infrastructure for the connection of the port and the area iron worker with the supplying and outlet markets.

"There is, by government and Region - the minister of the Economic Development has said, Flavio Zanonato - a remarkable effort financial, that it will have as effect the creation of numerous places of work. The government maintains so its engagement to arrive to the program agreement, guaranteeing that he will place side by side with the due Piombino attention in the performance distance. The executive will moreover continue to make to feel with vigor own voice in the important management disputes, Lucchini overhead, that they will find in the program agreement a valid instrument of support".

"If, as expected, the Cipe approves of thursday a million integration five to the resources available and friday is signed the agreement of program - it has emphasized the president of the Tuscany Region, Enrico Rossi - from monday will already be able to leave letters to the companies and therefore to be under way the distance for the confidence of the work". "I am aware of the difficult moment - it has continued Rossi - but at the same time which convinced that the effort of the workers, the unions, the enterprises and the institutions can succeed to obtain the objective to return this competitive and attractive zone. To the industrial vocation of this area we do not intend to renounce. This wants to say to spend soon and well the money available and to return the competitive port improving of the access, constructing the short row between destruction of the ships and steel, constructing packages of regional, national and European resources. The Region is and not only to words, since it has already allocated 61 million on 133".

Rossi has stopped itself also on the hypothesis to carry the property left at death one of the Costa Concordia cruise ship in the port of Piombino to the aim of its dismantling: "regarding the Concord - he has explained - the next year we think of being in the conditions for receiving it and for working it to Piombino. In any case the predisposition of the port structural and will be not only tied to the Concord. Memory that a directive of the European Parliament obligates Council EU to characterize within the 2015 ports in which destruction of the ships will be possible, that they are about 1.000 in all Europe. The work to the port of Piombino looks also to this opportunity".
