The port of Long Beach has closed the first three months of this year with a traffic of the container pairs almost 1,59 million teu, volume that period of 2016 represents an increment of +1.5% regarding the correspondent and that 2007 only constitute the third best always recorded result from the harbour port of call in the first trimester of the year being inferior to the volumes enlivened in the first trimester of (the 1,67 million one teu) and in the first trimester of 2006 (the 1,66 million one teu).

In the first full trimester of the 2017 the container to the disembarkation and the boarding has been pairs respective to 798 thousand and 358 thousand teu, with increments of +2.1% and +0.4% on the first trimester last year. Container handling empty has been attested to 430 thousand teu (+1.4%).

The president of the Port of Long Beach, Lori Ann Guzmán, has expressed satisfaction for the increment of the traffic recorded in the first trimester that - it has remembered - is traditionally a period of less intense activity regarding the other periods of the year: "for the remaining part of 2017 - it has added - we attend a remarkable increase in consideration of the widening of ours partnership with the Mediterranean Shipping Company, second the greater company of the world, with new activities and a strengthening of our relations with our partner". The reference is to the recent acquisition by shipowning group MSC of the participation previously stopped from the Hanjin Shipping South Korean in Total Terminals International (TTI), society that manages the terminal for containers to the Pier T of the port of Long Beach ( on 21 December 2016).
