Brussels inflicts fines pairs to 395 million euros to the marine carriers car carrier CSAV, "K" Linens, NYK and WWL-EUKOR



Today the EU commission has announced that five active companies of navigation also in the segment of the marine transport of motors vehicle have participated to understandings in violation of the norms antitrust of the EU and has specified to have comminato to four of these fines for a total of 395 million euros.

The trust activity is placed in being from Chilean CSAV, the Japanese Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha ("K" Linens), Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) and Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) and from the Norwegian-Swede Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics (WWL) with its branch South Korean Eukor Car Carriers.

Alla MOL, that it has introduced a demand for immunity from which has left the investigation of the EU commission, is not inflicted a pecuniary pain concerning the company is recognized a reduction of 100% of the fine in the picture of politics of favorable treatment in the cases of trusts which to the enterprises let alone - so as to the other companies involved in the investigation - a reduction of 10% of the endorsement in application of the concerning communication participate the transaction. With the demand for immunity MOL has been able therefore to avoid to pay the endorsement, that she is quantified in 203 million euros.

To the other Japanese NYK, which a reduction of 20% for favorable treatment is recognized, a fine of 141,82 million euros is comminata and to the compatriot "K" Linens, that it has benefitted of a reduction of 50% for favorable treatment, an endorsement of 39,10 million euros.

The elevated fine more, 207,33 million euros, have hit the WWL-EUKOR, which a decrease of 20% of the fine for favorable treatment is recognized. The CSAV will have to pay 7,03 million euros against the acknowledgment of a reduction of 25% of the endorsement for favorable treatment.

Motivating the decision to fine the navigation companies, let alone to endorse for 76 million euros two suppliers of candles motor vehicles and for 75 million euros two suppliers of systems of braking, the EU commission has specified that all the societies have recognized their involvement in the trusts and have agreed to resolve the cases.

The Commission has announced that the anti-competitive activity is lead by the navigation companies in order almost six years, from October 2006 to september 2012.

"The Commission - it has emphasized commissioner Margrethe Vestager, in charge of politics on the competition - has endorsed various societies for collusion in the marine transport of automobiles and the supply of parts of automobiles. The three taken decisions today demonstrate that we will not tolerate anti-competitive conducts in confronts of the consumers and the industries of Europe. Increasing to the prices of the members or the shipping charges of the automobiles, the trusts have damaged ultimately the European consumers and recorded negatively on the competitiveness of the European automotive field, that it employs about 12 million people in the EU".
