Institution-IMP agreement for the takeover of the center of naval demolition in the port of Piombino



Fridays to Livorno Tuscany Region, Authority of Harbour System of the Tyrrhenian Sea Northern, Common of Piombino, New Pignone-BHGE and Piombino Marine Industries (IMP) have undersigned two protocol of understanding whose objective is to favor the potenziamento of the port of Piombino with the support of new able takeovers to create job and development.

The agreements preview the realization of a destined yard to the assemblage and test of the great industrial modules for compression of the gas or the production of electric power by the multinational Nuovo Pignone-BHGE(on 7 March 2018) and the takeover of the center of demolition of ships that will be managed by the IMP, joint venture between genoese Saint George of the Port and the livornese Black Siblings(on 9 September 2016). The spirit of the two protocols is to coordinate institutions and enterprises facilitating, in the respect of the norms, their takeover. According to the esteem, the total investments will be able to reach 54 million.

In particular, the agreement with IMP has the objective to make to become Piombino the only center of the Mediterranean to second carry out activity of dismantling of the ships established the echo-compatible principles of the money laundering from the communitarian norms. In order to realize the center an investment of 14 million euros is estimated and the project is previewed will create about job 200 places, between navalmeccanici workers, engineers, technicians and employees. The system of demolition and shipbuilding will be realized near the Dock North, where two years ago the Authority of Harbour System has delivered to IMP a first lottery of 77.415 square metres to earth and water a before mirror of 11.125 square metres. According to lottery it is previewed is delivered to IMP within the end of 2018. The yard order would have to be completed within the end of 2019.

The protocol undersigned with IMP will have to favor the coordination of the parts for the activation of the ship yard of demolitions, constructions and logistics, to facilitate administrative actions, procedures, simplifications in the respect of the enforced norm and to coordinate the definition of integrating agreements with subject appointed third party to the realization and management of infrastructures of public service.

In occasion of the signature of the two it protocol the president of the Tuscany Region, Enrico Rossi, has specified that "these agreements establish that in which predetermined times the manifested interest becomes operating. Piombino - it has emphasized - needs certainties for being able to leave again". Rossi has specified that it is New Pignone that IMP has confirmed publicly the their full interest to go ahead: "BHGE Nuovo Pignone, through the signature of this protocol - it has explained - confirmation its interest for the takeover in the area of Piombino". Also the president of IMP, Piero Neri, has confirmed the full intention of giving concreteness to the interest for the takeover in the port: "the opportunities in order to begin to produce until from first January 2019 - it has declared Black - are: our partner has in fact acquired three important store clerks for two ships of luxury and a ferry and on these store clerks IMP will be able to take part opening in concrete terms perspective for some hundreds of places of work".
