They were completed in the port of La Spezia, in advance
compared to the tender schedule, the works at the Fornelli Pier
necessary to enable future developments of the terminal for
La Spezia Container Terminal (LSCT) permitting containers
the installation of new cranes with a higher capacity, capable of
to operate Ultra Large Container Vessels, and the increase in volumes
of traffic. The works, contracted by the System Authority
Port of the Eastern Ligurian Sea and built by the company
Dr. Carlo Agnese Spa on the basis of the executive project drawn up in
LSCT, consisted in filling the
cavities under the support foot of the caissons, with
the aid of steel containment sheet piles fixed by the
quay and subsequently cut to size by teams of
divers operating on the seabed.
"The intervention - explained the director of operations of
LSCT, Alessandro Pellegri - is a fundamental step in the
enhancement of our infrastructure and allows us to
proactively respond to the needs of our customers,
supporting the growth of containerized traffic and the future
expansion of the terminal".
"We worked synergistically with the terminal
LSCT and with the company Dr. Carlo Agnese Spa - commented Federica
Montaresi, extraordinary commissioner of the Port Authority - to be able to
ensure the rapid completion of the works and the
return of the quay to full operation. Here we go
thanks to the professionalism and attention that
all together, Port Authority, LSCT and company, with all the technicians and
responsible for the works, we have dedicated to this intervention with the
awareness of its strategic importance for making the port
of La Spezia an increasingly attractive, competitive and
able to respond to the needs of the market".
