Hannibal, the multimodal operator of the Contship Group, has
expanded its rail network with the addition of a new
connection hub in Liguria. From today, the intermodal flows of the
group between the inland terminals of Milan, Modena and Padua will be able to
directly in the port of La Spezia, in addition to La Spezia
Container Terminal (LSCT), the maritime gateway of the Contship Group,
also the Gulf Terminal of the Tarros group. A connection that is
made possible thanks to the functional and operational integration between
port and hinterland wanted by the Port System Authority
of the Eastern Ligurian Sea which has activated a shuttle service
road between the port of La Spezia and the inland area of Santo
Stefano di Magra, thus allowing you to overcome the limit
infrastructure of the Gulf Terminal.
"The integration of the Gulf Terminal into our network
- highlighted Matteo Ferrando, sales & business development
manager of Contship Italy - represents a further step forward
in the increase in the intermodal share of the port of La Spezia, already
among the highest in Italy. In 2024, for example, the
of rail traffic reached peaks of 34%, a remarkable number
when compared to the average of other ports which is 9%. A
further step towards our goal of continuing to
develop increasingly flexible solutions but above all
sustainable solutions, thus able to meet the needs of
efficiency and decarbonisation of the supply chain of our
customers".
