
In the port of Gioia Tauro, the works have been completed
of a total value of 2.7 million euros for the construction
of the new multifunctional border control structure PCF -
PED/PDI point, which will allow the centrality of the
Checks of goods and related analyses in a single area
within the port of call. According to the provisions of the
legislation in force on the subject, the control activity
animals and food goods entering the
territory of the European Union is entrusted to the health service
within the peripheral structures of the Ministry of Health
and, in order to provide the Calabrian port with an activity
essential and to facilitate the organisation of the relevant inspections
of the laboratory, the Port System Authority of the Seas
Southern Tyrrhenian and Ionian has centralized in a single structure
the performance of the analysis and control operations of the goods
in order to prevent any contamination or the introduction to the
consumption of products that are not hygienically up to standard.
Located in an area of 4,000 square meters, the structure is
organized in three sheds divided into 34 prefabricated modules.
Of these, twenty-two will be dedicated to the service of the post of
border control PCF, a further six modules will be used for
Activities of the Regional Phytosanitary Service, three
to the Customs and Monopolies Agency and three others to the service
of the Guardia di Finanza.
