Government predicts flow of savings via pipeline from Syria

Syrian gas should begin arriving in Lebanon by 2002 in a deal which is expected to cut the cost of producing electricity by 30 percent. Work is due to begin next year on a $200 million pipeline to supply two new power stations near Tripoli with gas from Palmyra.
