Govt may impose 50 pc import duty on wheat

With stocks of wheat piling up, the government may have no option but to impose a hefty 50 per cent import duty on the commodity's imports, which are cheaper than the indigenous variety.
Millers in the South are still importing wheat although the country is faced with a situation of plenty, officials said.
