Railways hauls all-time high freight in 2003-04

The Railways moved a record 557.05 million tonnes of freight during 2003-04, an increase of 7.05 million tonnes over the revised target of 550 million tonnes for the year.

This was higher by 38.31 million tonnes as compared to that of 2002-03 at 518.74 million tonnes. The original target for the full year was 540 million tonnes, which was revised to 550 million tonnes ......
