Nel primo semestre di quest'anno il porto di Singapore ha movimentato complessivamente 8,280.600 di container da venti piedi nei terminal gestiti dalle due società terminaliste che operano nello scalo, la PSA Corporation e la Jurong Port. Rispetto al primo semestre dello scorso anno il traffico è aumentato del 9,7%. La sola PSA Corporation, che opera la gran parte dei terminal del porto, ha movimentato 8,21 milioni di teu, con un incremento del 9,1% (inforMARE del 4 luglio 2002).
Nei primi sei mesi del 2002 il traffico merci complessivo è ammontato a 166.177.700 tonnellate, con una crescita del 10%. Il comparto containerizzato ha totalizzato 91.491.100 tonnellate (+10%), quello dei carichi convenzionali 7.352.300 tonnellate (-2,7%); le rinfuse liquide si sono attestate a 60.045.800 tonnellate (+12,4%) e le rinfuse secche a 7.288.500 tonnellate (+8,3%).
Nel primo semestre il porto di Singapore è stato scalato da 69.976 navi (2.386 unità meno della prima metà dello scorso anno) per un totale di 483.885.000 tonnellate di stazza lorda, con un incremento di 23 milioni di tsl.
