 Lo scorso mese il traffico container nel porto di Long Beach, che sconta ancora la perdita degli scali delle navi della Maersk Sealand, è diminuito del 2,3% a 400.786 teu. Le importazioni e le esportazioni di container pieni sono calate rispettivamente a 227.953 teu (-12,1%) e a 87.961 teu (-14,4%). Tali flessioni sono state compensate dalla movimentazione di container vuoti, che è aumentata del 32,6% a 125.015 teu (+32,6%).
In aprile Los Angeles ha invece registrato un deciso incremento del traffico container, che è stato pari a 589.0345 teu, con una progressione del 21,6% rispetto all'aprile 2002. Gli sbarchi e gli imbarchi di container pieni sono cresciuti rispettivamente a 319.620 teu (+23,9%) e a 97.504 teu (+7,1%), mentre la movimentazione di container vuoti si è attestata a 171.873 teu (+27,2%).
