Nel primo trimestre di quest'anno il traffico transpacifico containerizzato Asia-USA è stato pari a 3.411.744 teu, con una progressione del 14,0% rispetto al corrispondente periodo del 2003. Il traffico nella relazione eastbound è ammontato a 2.382.137 teu (+14,9%), nella relazione westbound USA-Asia a 1.029.607 teu (+12,1%).
I dati sul traffico Asia-USA - elaborati dal Research Co-operation Office della compagnia di navigazione giapponese Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) - mostrano la forte oscillazione dei traffici eastbound registrata negli ultimi mesi ed il consistente e progressivo incremento verificatosi nella relazione inversa.
