Started in the port of Savona the dredging of the backdrops in the before area cruises approach it



In the port of Savona the work of deepening of the backdrops in the before watery mirror is started the Harbour-office. Draft of an area of about twenty thousand square metres where cubic metres of sand will be dredged to 20 thousand in order to carry the backdrops from current the -8,5 to -9,5 meters.

The participation of dredging, that it follows an obligatory activity of war reclamation turned out negative, will have the maximum duration of five months, but the Harbour Authority of Savona has specified that they could only finish with advance payment being bound from the naval traffic: the commercial operations, in fact - it has explained the agency - will have the priority and they will not endure some delay.

The Harbour Authority has specified that the work, whose cost total is of about 380 thousand euros, has become necessary in order to create greater space for the maneuvers of approaches of the great cruise ships directed to the third party approaches.

The dredged material will be poured in sea in the area Dock High Grounds where the depth of the grounds is of -30 meters. The operation is preceded by pre-emptive characterizations of the sandy materials subordinates to specific analyses of the Field Coastal Ecosystem of the Region that of it has verified the compatibility with the delivery site. Single once obtained the regional authorization, and after the search of weapons previewed from the law in the zone subordinate to dredgings, is given the go-ahead to the yard.

In order to protect the marine atmosphere, the Harbour Authority has previewed two campaigns of monitoring that have had the approval of the Region: the first already carried out (the so-called campaign of white) in order to establish the parameters before work; the second one will be executed in the course of the operations of dredging with specific apparatuses, torbidometri, and will verify the state of waters regarding eventual sediment dispersions in sea.

The harbour authority has explained moreover that, always in the optical of the maximum environmental protection, the dredgings will be executed with a special endowed pontoon of a crane to two buckets that will capture the sandy sediment before unloading it inside a case that is found on board. The next drainage in the zone High Backdrops will be made with the opening of the case directly on the bottom in order not to create material dispersion on the surface of the water.
