In the first three months of this year the traffic in the port of Rotterdam has grown of +2.0% with "amazing" an increase of the container



In the first trimester of the 2017 port of Rotterdam it has enlivened 119,3 million tons of goods, with an increase of +2.0% regarding 116,9 million tons in the first three months last year. The increase is determined by the rise of the volumes in all the main merceologici segments, with the exception of the oil produced ones and of the other liquid bulk, and in particular from the increase of the containerized trade, increment that the Harbour Authority of the Dutch port of call has defined amazing and that the precedence has allowed to record the new quarterly record of traffic of the port (record was established in according to trimester of 2014).

"For the containers - it has emphasized the managing director of the Port of Rotterdam Authority, Allard Castelein - the trimester has been the best one in absolute and March has been a month record. The operators of Rotterdam of the field of the container have realized remarkable results in a market that is growing, but in limited way. Even if we do not have to brighten itself too soon - he has specified Castelein - however, with the new schedule that they have taken effect this month and that they are favorable for Rotterdam, this seems a good year for the container to Rotterdam".

The Harbour Authority of Rotterdam has found that the Dutch port of call is increasing its harbour role of hub for the container since many companies, between which those of the new great shipowning alliances that have activated the own new Networks of services of line with effect from on 1° April, seem to have beforehand introduced new schedule, in particular relatively to the route with the Far East that is of particular importance for the port of Rotterdam. According to the Dutch harbour agency, it will be necessary however to attend some month before the positive impact of such new operating scene manifestos in its fullness.

While in the first three months of this year the traffic of the container has already reached the new quarterly peak of 34,3 million tons, with a progression of +10.8% on the first trimester of 2016. In terms of containers from 20 ' (teu), the traffic has turned out pairs to 3.270.624 teu (+8.8%). Important it has been also the increase of the other goods several that has been attested 7,6 million to tons (+14.5%), with cargos ro-ro that they are piled to 5,7 million tons (+6.5%) and the goods conventional to 1,8 million tons (+49.9%).

More content the increment of the bulk sand banks that have totaled 21,7 million tons (+3.6%), of which 8,0 million tons of coal (+1.5%), 7,9 million tons of minerals and scrap (+0.5%), 2,9 million tons of agricultural bulk (+14.0%) and 3,0 million tons of other solid bulk (+8.7%).

In the field of the liquid bulk the traffic is dropped altogether of -4,7% to the 55,6 million one tons, of which 26,6 million tons of crude oil (+2.3%), 21,7 million tons of producing oil (- 11.1%), 234 thousand tons of natural gas which liquified (+65.6%) and 7,0 million tons of other cargos liquids (- 9.2%).

Totally in the first three months of this year the goods to the disembarkation pairs to 83,7 million tons (+1.9%) and those to the boarding to 35,5 million tons (+2.2% have been).
