Organized by the Liguria Region and the European Commission, the conference will be held the next 23rd November
November 12, 1999
The Liguria Region and the European Commission, in co-operation of AMRIE and the Genoa MARIS Forum, with the patronage of the Italian Ministry of Labour, organise the FEMAR Conference, "Future Educational Challenges for Maritime Information Society", which will be held in Genoa, on the 23rd November 1999, Palazzina San Lorenzo, Porto Antico.
The Conference is the first occasion to present FEMAR, a new sub-project recently approved by the European Commission in the MARIS domain.
The Conference is intended to underline how the education of human resources contributes, in a strong way, to enhance the productive and occupational development of the maritime economics, in a wide sense (shipbuilders and ship-repairers, ship-owners, ports, fisheries and other related activities and services), through "continuous" education and training processes of the workforce.
There will be the participation of Guido Podestà and Bruno Trentin, members of the European Parliament, Schmitt von Sydow, Ronald Vopel, Albert Huechtker, Angela Pollitzer of the European Commission, high level institutions, operators and experts on the maritime sector, at European (Finland, Ireland, Spain, Germany, Great Britain, Belgium) and national level (Ministry of Transport, Fincantieri, Costa Crociere, Genoa Port Authority, University of Genoa, etc.). The Deputy Minister of the Italian Government will also attend the Conference.
During the Conference the state of the art of the education and training projects available in the maritime sectors will be presented, experiences and know-how among different European regions will be shared; the role and quality of human resources involved and the implementation of innovative ICT will be focused.
The FEMAR Conference intends also to promote a more cohesive approach by public institutions, companies and trade unions involved in order to elaborate an integrated framework in the maritime economics.
