Costa Cruises has awarded the construction site of Porto San Giorgio (SGdP) of Genoa, a contract worth approximately EUR 90 million for major restyling of the Costa Romantica cruise ship, of 53,000 gross tons. To carry out the work, which will start in October and will conclude at the end of January 2012, will now work SgdP T. Mariotti of the subsidiary with which in 2008 formed the holding company Genoa Naval Industries ( of 21 April 2008).
The work will lead to a complete renovation of the ship even in the name, which will become neoromantic Coast. There will be presentations relevant, with the creation of new areas and the introduction of services that represent a substantial evolution of the Costa product. The goal - said the cruise line - is to offer cruising experience renewed, ideal to satisfy the desires of a specific target customer. Neoromantic Coast will stand for the refined atmosphere, from a contemporary interior design, particularly elegant and refined. The interior design was carried out by Tillberg Design, the Swedish architecture firm that in 40 years has designed the interiors of about 130 prestigious luxury yachts and cruise ships, and Syntax, London firm specializing in prestigious hotels and spas.
During the stop in dry dock in Genoa, will be among the other two new semiponti and 111 new cabins, and built 120 cabins and suites with private balcony. The maximum capacity of the ship will bring to 1,697 to 1,800 total passengers, the cabins will increase from 678 to 789, the gross tonnage of 56,000 tons will come about.
Once the works were completed, Costa will offer some neo-romantic cruises of 11 days, departing from Savona, direct in the Canary Islands. During summer 2012 the ship was then positioned in Northern Europe cruise itineraries of two weeks with new songs.
