
A man was arrested as part of the
Investigations to ascertain the causes of the collision that occurred yesterday in the
near the port of Hull between the tanker
Stena Immaculate
and the container ship
Solong, an accident following which -
announced the UK Coast Guard - 36 seafarers are
were brought ashore safely, while a crew member
of Solong is still missing.
The Coast Guard announced today that the container carrier is
still on fire, while the fire on board the Stena
Immaculate has subsided considerably. Also last night
Solong separated from the tanker and began to
move south. The Counter Pollution and Salvage Team of the
Coast Guard is assessing the situation to intervene as soon as
the situation will allow it.
Meanwhile, today the Humberside police, who are responsible for
for the investigation of possible criminal offences resulting from the collision
between the two ships, announced the arrest of a 59-year-old man with
the charge of manslaughter for gross negligence.
