New bitumen traffic at the port of Civitavecchia downloaded in ship to truck mode

The Port System Authority of the Tyrrhenian Sea Center Settentrionale announced the arrival in the port of Civitavecchia of the first ship to inaugurate a new bitumen traffic, which for the first time in Italy will be downloaded directly on trucks without going through dedicated depots. This is the ship bitumiera Iver Ambassador of Vroon. coming from Turkey, which tomorrow will start operations to download about 1,500 tons of 50/70 molten bitumen, in ship to mode truck, through a pipeline connected directly from the ship to the MFR removable portal (tanker load shelter) positioned in quay. Traffic takes place on behalf of the company So.De.Co., which uses for the operations in port of the Cooperativa Impresa Lavoratori Portuali (CILP).

The AdSP has highlighted that to acquire this traffic, that a regime should stand between 70 thousand and 90 thousand tons the year, administrative work was required by of the particularly complex entity that started several months, first constituting, as required by art. 8 paragraph F of the Law 84, a working group coordinated by the same AdSP with Customs Agency, Port Authority, S.Pre.S.A.L. of the ASL (Workplace Prevention and Safety Service) and provincial command of the Fire Brigade, to evaluate the feasibility of unloading bitumen in the port of Civitavecchia without using deposits and a special one pipeline, while later it became necessary also convene a commission pursuant to art. 48 Cod. Nav., which, with the sharing of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Mobility Sustainable, gave further indications to the working group, on the basis of which the AdSP granted the authorization the introduction of bitumen traffic with ship to mode truck, for the first time in derogation from the rule that goes back even to 1934.

"This work - underlined the president of the AdSP, Pino Musolino - represents the beginning of a unique activity of its kind throughout Italy. It is an example of how this activities that we started for the differentiation of traffic is taking shape, with product types and new and unprecedented operating methods on the national scene. The bitumen, however, has the merit in this moment of great infrastructure investments to be one of the necessary subjects the realization of works and interventions of great importance. The port of Civitavecchia, therefore, is confirmed to the service not only of the city and the territory, but of the Country System: to service of that work that Italy must complete for the recovery and to achieve the provisions of the PNRR'.

In this first phase the new traffic provides for the arrival at the port of Civitavecchia of one ship per month, and then go up to two ports of call Monthly.
