- Un rapporto sull'industria crocieristica nordamericana della Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) - di cui l'associazione ha resi noti oggi i risultati - indica che nel 2006 il settore ha generato negli Stati Uniti un giro d'affari lordo di 35,7 miliardi di dollari (+10% sul 2005) ed ha sostenuto 348.000 posti di lavoro (+5%) consentendo il pagamento di 14,7 miliardi di dollari di stipendi (+9%).

- Nel 2006 gli imbarchi di passeggeri nei porti statunitensi sono aumentati del 4% attestandosi a nove milioni di unità, pari al 75% del numero complessivo di imbarchi.

- Lo scorso anno - si legge nel rapporto della CLIA - in tutto il mondo 12 milioni di persone hanno effettuato una crociera, con un incremento del 7% rispetto al 2005. I cittadini statunitensi rappresentano il 78% del totale.
