In the first quarter of this year the volume of container traffic handled by end-group a German Hamburger Hafen Logistik AG (HHLA) is significantly increased, reaching 1,654,000 TEUs and 454,000 TEUs in the port sector in the intermodal sector, with increases of 32, 0% and 20.1% in the first quarter of 2010.
This increase in volume is reflected in the income statement for the group, which filed the first three months of 2011 with a net profit of EUR 16.4 million on revenues of 289.8 million euro, with progressions respectively of 46.9% and 22.3% over the corresponding period last year. EBITDA and EBIT amounted respectively to 75.0 million euro (+22.3%) and 44.0 million euro (+24.2%).
Expressing satisfaction with the quarterly results, the CEO of the group in Hamburg, Klaus-Dieter Peters, noted that "although considerable HHLA performance over the last three quarters of 2010 will ensure that growth year-over-year course will tend to going to fall later this year, the rate of growth in the first quarter reinforces our positive forecasts for the remainder of 2011. " "Assuming that the positive trend of the world economy remains stable in recent months - he added - for the full year we expect growth rates well above 10% of container volumes, revenues and profits."
