Kvaerner Wins $187.7M Ship Contracts Kvaerner ASAs Finnish unit Masa Yards has won contacts worth $187.7 million from German and Dutch companies.The Oslo bourse reported the first contract was with Germanys Hapag-Lloyd AG for a cruise ship to be delivered in 1999. The second contract is for two ice-breakers for Dutch shipyard Wagenborg Shipping for delivery in autumn 1998.
Concordia To Order Oil Carriers Concordia Maritime AB plans to order three to five large new oil carriers next year for approximately $323.3 million, Swedish daily business newspaper Dagens Industri reported on November 27. Concordia, whose fleet is currently 20-25 years old, has always bought previously owned vessels. Concordia plans to order VLCC and Aframax vessels from a shipyard in the Far East with delivery to start in the year 2002. The new vessels will replace Concordias older ships, which the company hopes to sell for use as floating oil reservoirs. The paper said the new order would be jointly made by Concordia and one or more other oil companies.
