Waterfront latest, Monday 4 May, 11.45 am: The High Court today granted Australia's unionised waterside workers the right to return to work, but left their reinstatement in the hands of company administrators. In a 6-1 majority decision the High Court dismissed an appeal by Patrick stevedores against a Federal Court order to reinstate the 1,400 workers sacked nearly four weeks ago. The Court also ordered Patrick to pay the High Court costs of the Maritime Union of Australia.
