    Transport minister Mark Vaile said the next phase in the avgas tax reduction regime would remove the remaining 13 cents per litre paid to AA following the introduction of location specific pricing for terminal navigation services.
  • Port of Karumba dredging begins
    The Queensland government's $7 million dredging project at the port of Karumba, designed to increase channel depth to 3.4 metres to provide Pasminco Ltd with port access for its Century zinc project, will get underway next week.
    Queensland Minister for Transport and main Roads, Vaughan Johnson, said the Karumba dredging will allow for the port to accommodate the Pasminco Century project barge. The 5100-tonne barge will transport zinc concentrate from the port to 30,000 tonne mother ships up to 40 kilometres out to sea.
