Port of Karumba dredging begins The Queensland government's $7 million dredging project at the port of Karumba, designed to increase channel depth to 3.4 metres to provide Pasminco Ltd with port access for its Century zinc project, will get underway next week. Queensland Minister for Transport and main Roads, Vaughan Johnson, said the Karumba dredging will allow for the port to accommodate the Pasminco Century project barge. The 5100-tonne barge will transport zinc concentrate from the port to 30,000 tonne mother ships up to 40 kilometres out to sea.
