  • BHPT action dropped ASP bid rejected
Executives of the Australian Institute of Marine and Power Engineers will meet representatives of ASP Ship Management in Melbourne today to discuss their differences which have delayed vessels managed by the company.
This follows the company's failure in the Australian Industrial Relations Commission on Tuesday to restrain the Institute from taking industrial action
ASP took the action under section 166A of the Workplace Relations Act.
Commissioner Wilks did not grant the application, instead repeating an earlier recommendation that the parties meet and discuss their differences.
  • Wilhelmsen, Contship swap ECNA slots
Wilhelsen Lines and Contship Containerlines have announced a slot-swapping deal on the East Coast North America-New Zealand/Australia leg of their respective round-the-world services, effective mid-year.
Beginning in June, Contship will charter container space on Wilhelmsen's three roll-on/roll off services -- the third of which is the re-routed African loop, announced last week (DCN, 11 March) -- providing additional container capacity and upping Contship's frequency in this trade from every 10 days to weekly.

  • Another Kooragang expansion
The Kooragang coal terminal at the port of Newcastle is to undergo a $345 million expansion.
