  • Gulf lease sale attracts $171 million in high bids
    Yesterday's Minerals Management Service (MMS) sale of offshore oil and natural gas leases in the Central Gulf of Mexico attracting $171,804,696 million in high bids from 67 companies. By contrast, in last year's Central Gulf sale, companies submitted $810.4 million in high bids for tracts, just off the 1997 record of $824.1 million. In 1997, companies submitted 1,790 bids on 1,032 tracts.
  • Record first quarter for Carnival
    Carnival Corporation today reported net income of $157.8 million ($0.26 Diluted EPS) on revenues of $748.3 million for its first quarter ended February 28, 1999, compared to net income of $109.9 million ($0.18 Diluted EPS) on revenues of $557.8 million for the same quarter in 1998. Earnings per share increased 44 percent in the first quarter of 1999 versus the same period in 1998. This was the 31st consecutive quarter in which Carnival reported year-over-year earnings improvement.
  • Monarch returns to service
    Royal Caribbean International's Monarch of the Seas returned to full service March 14, less than three months after sustaining damage from an underwater shoal off St. Maarten. The vessel emerged from dry dock , fully repaired and significantly improved in guest areas.

  • Nedlloyd vend toutes ses activités de transport routier à Deutsche Post
    Suite à une prise de participation de 50% dans P&O Nedlloyd, la Koninklijke Nedlloyd sera réduite à un petit holding pour la navigation containérisée. Cette conclusion s'impose depuis que l'entreprise rotterdamoise a annoncé qu'elle vend sa division européenne Transport et Distribution à Deutsche Post/Danzas. Tout sera vendu: tant Nedlloyd Road Cargo que Van Gend & Loos, Nedlloyd Districenters, Faxion, etc. Seule Mammoet (la division pour le transport lourd) ne sera pas vendue.
  • Liege Airport sera connecté au rail
    Le ministre wallon du Transport Miche Lebrun a signé le dossier de l'aménagement de la connexion du Cargo Village de l'aéroport de Liège au réseau ferroviaire. Suite au redéploiement des activités militaires sur l'aéroport, la deuxième piste est désormais disponible pour le trafic commercial. Deux bonnes nouvelles pour Liège Airport, qui a co-signé l'accord concernant la participation de 25% d'Aéroports de Paris hier dans la capitale française (voir ailleurs dans nos colonnes).
  • Le Sénat n'a pas modifié le projet de loi sur le transport routier
    La commission "Economie et Finances" du Sénat a entériné sans modifications le projet de loi relatif au transport de marchandises par la route.
