    [BRUSSELS] France will push the European Union to fast-track new rules on maritime safety this month, French Transport Minister Jean-Claude Gayssot said. Mr Gayssot said he would work to persuade sceptical countries that the range of measures -- drafted in the wake of last December's Erika disaster when a grounded oil tanker shed 8,000 tonnes of fuel off northern France -- should be pushed through as quickly as possible.

Calais est le premier port concerné. Les autres ports desservis par l’armement, dont Zeebrugge, suivront “le plus rapidement possible”.

    Le groupe néerlandais de supermarchés Ahold (groupe Albert Heijn) va construire un méga-centre de distribution près de Philadelphie, depuis lequel il va assurer l’approvisionnement de ses 1.100 supermarchés aux Etats-Unis. C’est ce qu’a déclaré Cees Van der Hoeven, le président d’Ahold, dans une interview au Financieele Dagblad. Une telle organisation logistique est une grande première, en ce sens que d’une manière générale, les logisticiens estiment que les Etats-Unis sont trop grands pour mettre sur pied une distibution centralisée.
