    La zone portuaire de Liège a traité plus de 25 mio. de tonnes l'année dernière. Il s'agit d'une première pour le port de la cité ardente. Le trafic a augmenté de 5,5% ou 1,34 mio. de tonnes par rapport à 1998. Deux tiers de tous les transports fluviaux de la Walonnie transitetn par le port de Liège. Trois quart de ce volume, c'est-à-dire un peu plus de 19 mio. de tonnes, soit transbordées dans les ports publics et un quart - à savoir 6,8 mio. de tonnes - dans les ports privés situés le long de la Meuse.
