    Le groupe FedEx Corp va acquérir le transporteur American Freightways (AF), basé à Harrisson, Arkansas et spécialisé dans le LTL (less-than-truckload) régional, pour une somme de 1,2 mia de USD (dont 250 mio. de USD de reprise de dettes). De la sorte, FedEx acquiert un réseau dans l’est, le centre et de sud des Etats-Unis, qui complète celui de Viking (basé à San José, Californie, qui appartient depuis 1997 au transporteur express). L’objectif est de créer un réseau axé sur le LTL régional mais offrant également des services de LTL national. Les chargeurs faisant transporter des quantités de plus en plus faibles à la fois, ces marchés devraient croître de 10% par an aux Etats-Unis. Le rachat d’AF devrait accélérer le mouvement de concentration dans ce secteur. Consolidated Freightways et USFreightways se trouveraient d’ailleurs dans le colimateur d’UPS.
