Cette décision pourrait tomber le mois prochain, a déclaré Emanuele Grimaldi en marge de son exposé à la conférence "RoRo 2000" à Göteborg. Mais rien est moins sûr. Le groupe italien reporte sa décision depuis plus de deux ans déjà. Anvers, où les services G&C (dans lesquels Grimaldi a racheté la participation de Cobelfret) font également escale, semble a priori disposer des meilleurs atouts, même s'il fait grand cas d'une "nouvelle offre de Flessingue". Seulement, la demande de l'armement pour recevoir une grande concession devant les écluses semble difficile à honorer.
  • Mauvaise qualité des prestations ferroviaires: le transport combiné rail/route a perdu des plumes en 1999
    1998 n'avait pas été une année brillante pour le transport combiné rail/route européen géré par les sociétés membres de l'UIRR Union internationale Rail/Route (ni pour le transport ferroviaire de marchandises d'ailleurs); 1999 a été encore plus mauvaise puisque le trafic international note une régression de 0,7%, et le trafic national de 7,4%. C'est bien entendu la mauvaise qualité des services fournis par les entreprises ferroviaires/tractionnaires qui est en cause. "Les entreprises ferroviaires sont même allées au-delà de l'inacceptable en ne se privant pas d'augmenter simultanément le prix de leurs prestations", souligne le directeur général de l'UIRR Rudy Colle dans le rapport annuel.

    La Commission européenne a proposé mercredi une diminution progressive des éco-points dans le trafic de transit de camions en Autriche. "Cette proposition ne va en rien à l'encontre des objectifs de lutte contre la pollution, mais tient compte du progrès technique qui a déjà permis de réduire les émissions de matières toxiques dans le transport routier", a déclaré Loyola de Palacio, commissaire européenne aux Transports. La proposition de la Commission sera abordée lors du prochain Conseil des ministres des Transports, les 26 et 27 juin.

    La compagnie ferry britannique P&O Stena Line va augmenter à partir du 1er juillet 2000 le nombre de départs sur la route Calais-Douvres afin de répondre à la hausse de la demande en transports de fret. Six départs supplémentaires seront proposés suite au transfert partiel et temporaire du "P&O SL European Seaway" depuis Zeebrugge vers la plus courte traversée de la Manche.
