Avec un volume global de 8,94 mio. de t à la fin mars, le port côtier belge est parvenu à réaliser un score égal à celui du premier trimestre de 1999, le recul n'étant que de 7.012 t, soit - 0,1%. En d'autres mots, Zeebrugge parvient à compenser la perte du trafic de vrac sec que traitait la ZBM et qui représentait un volume annuel de quelque 4 mio. de t.
