    Comme chaque année à pareille époque, l'AGHA, organe coupole des associations professionnelles anversoises, publie sa note d'orientation politique. Cette année, ce document se dinstingue fortement des précédents en ce sens qu'il constitue un avertissement à l'adresse des diverses forces composantes de notre société, ayant trait aux conséquences néfastes que pourraient avoir une remise en cause, voire un arrêt de l'expansion portuaire anversoise. Dans son avant-propos, le président Jan Pellens, ne cache par que les plaidoyers pour une expansion de la capacité, la réalisation de nouvelles infrastructures, le soutien de projets innovateurs, basés sur l'intérêt économique des ports flamands en général et d'Anvers en particulier, semblent ne plus convaincre de nombreux interlocuteurs. Il plaide résolument pour une approche par laquelle un équilibre à long terme peut être réalisé entre les intérêts économiques et écologiques.

    L'Entreprise portuaire communale de Rotterdam (GHR) crée une SA afin de pouvoir opérer de façon plus flexible et efficace. Cette société Mainport Holding Rotterdam (MHR) peut prendre des participations et conclure des accords de collaboration sans devoir demander au préalable l'autorisation du conseil communal. L'Entreprise portuaire remet désormais un rapport trimestriel sur les activités intégrées dans le MHR.
  • Sûreté du fret aérien et pratique de la deep pocket
    Dans le cadre des nouvelles mesures dites "sûreté du fret aérien", 99% des compagnies et agents (transitaires-commissionnaires) opérant en France sont agréés. Mais les clients (chargeurs) restent en retrait. Compte tenu des enjeux, les pouvoirs publics français vont simplifier la procédure permettant de devenir "client connu". L'objectif visé est en effet d'atteindre en France 50% de "clients connus" pour fin 2000. Mais les chargeurs ne manquent pas de souligner un paradoxe.
  • L'UIRR va devoir hausser le ton face à la mauvaise qualité de service des entreprises ferroviaires
    La première partie de l'assemblée générale de printemps de l'UIRR à Budapest a permis de faire le point sur la situation du transport combiné rail/route en Hongrie, et de procéder à différentes formalités administratives (admission de nouveaux membres, élection du conseil, etc).
