    Volvo Cars Gand doit s'engager dans une nouvelle voie logistique pour mener à bien son projet P1, qui s'accompagnera d'une hausse considérable de la production mais qui devra être réalisé sur les terrains actuels de l'usine automobile dans le port de Gand. Cela se traduit notamment par l'introduction d'une équipe de nuit dans la division assemblage et par un recours plus fréquent aux sous-traitants qui viendront s'installer à proximité immédiate de l'usine et préassembleront dans une plus grande mesure des composants. Parmi ceux-ci, on retrouve le groupe américain Tower Automotive, qui a posé hier la première pierre d'une usine de soudure de pièces de carrosserie en modules où seront également entreposés d'autres composants de carrosserie. Volvo Cars étudie aussi comment optimiser la livraison en raison de la forte augmentation des volumes. Elle envisage notamment d'aligner des camions de grand volume (d'une capacité allant jusqu'à 140 m3) pour faire la navette sur de nouveaux axes à l'intérieur du port entre les sous-traitants et l'usine automobile. Furness Logistics construira également un nouveau magasin à la Skaldenstraat où plusieurs opérations seront combinées.
