Une deuxième usine d’assemblage n’est pas prévue, mais l’unité de production existante sera développée. Ainsi, la capacité n’augmentera pas à 320.000 voitures, mais arrivera à seulement 270.000 voitures. Par rapport au chiffre actuel de près de 160.000 de voitures, cela signifie toujours une très sensible expansion. Quant aux investissements et l’emploi, les prévisions demeurent quasiment les mêmes. La décision de redéfinir les plans a trait aux problèmes persistants au niveau de la redistribution de concessions et terrains.
  • Confreight va investir 400 mio. de BEF dans des bureaux et magasins
    Le groupe anversois Confreight investira cette année 400 mio. de BEF (9,9 mio. d’EUR) dans des travaux d’infrastructures. A Anvers, l’entreprise de groupage a acheté les magasins attenants de Louis De Bie, portant ainsi sa capacité d’entreposage à 43.000 m2. De plus, le groupe construit un nouveau magasin de 10.000 m2 à Rotterdam et développe la capacité d’infrastructure à Milan. En plus des futurs espaces de bureaux de ces implantations, la capacité de bureaux existante à Anvers sera également accrue. Tout sera opérationnel avant le congé annuel du secteur de la construction.
  • Hambourg: Hapag-Lloyd a acquis 25,1% dans le nouveau terminal Altenwerder
    La nouvelle selon laquelle Hapag-Lloyd a pris une participation de 25,1% dans le nouveau terminal à containers que HHLA aménage sur le site d’Altenwerder, si elle n’a pas manqué de surprendre nombre d’observateurs, ne s’inscrit pas moins dans cette nouvelle logique opérationnelle qui anime bien des megacarriers Est-Ouest. Cet étonnement se comprend quand on se souvient du désengagement du secteur de la manutention portuaire hambourgeoise auquel l’armement procéda il y a quelques années en revendant son grand terminal Unikai. A l’époque, l’explication avancée était que cet investissement ne s’inscrivait pas dans le cadre des activités de base. En 2001, les choses se présentent différemment.
  • Caterpillar Logistics construit un centre logistique pour DaimlerChrysler à Singapour
    DaimlerChrysler (DC) a posé lundi à Singapour la première pierre d’un nouveau centre de distribution pour l’Asie et le Pacifique. Il assurera l’ensemble de la logistique pour les quatre marques du groupe (Mercedes-Benz auto et véhicules industriels, Chrysler et Jeep). La gestion du centre sera assurée par Caterpillar Logistics, qui a signé un accord avec DC en septembre 1999 pour la gestion de la logistique de la pièce détachée pour l’ensemble du groupe, et ce au niveau mondial. Singapour est la première étape dans la concrétaisation de cette alliance. Dans la marge de cette information, on peut signaler que c’est actuellement ABX Logistics qui gère pour Mercedes-Benz les pièces détachées de camionnettes et camions en Asie/Pacifique à partir d’une plate-forme logistique à Singapour. Au QG d’ABX pour l’Asie, la direction nous a dit ne pas être au courant d’une éventuelle fin prématurée du contrat.
