Au cours de la dernière année du 20ème siècle, 36,04 mio. de t de marchandises ont été transportées sur le réseau de canaux de 324,5 km de long géré par le DvS. Par rapport à 1999, cela correspond à une hausse de près de 5 mio. de t ou de 16%. Sur le plan des prestations de transport, les résultats sont encore meilleurs: 2,7 mia. de t/km, une progression de 457 mio. de t/km ou de 20,33%.
