    C’est le 10 ooctobre prochain que doit avoir lieu au sein de la commission Transport du parlement européen un vote sur le projet de directive sur les services portuaires. En fait, il s’agit pour ladite commission de remettre un avis qui sera alors soumis pour appréciation à la réunion plénière du parlement, ce qui devrait intervenir en novembre. A son tour le parlement formulera un avis à soumettre au conseil des ministres, ce qui devrait se situer début 2002 alors que l’UE sera sous présidence espagnole. Le processus prévoit également une deuxième lecture au parlement suivi d’un avis au Conseil des ministres avant mise en application. On sait que quelque 280 amendements ont été déposés qui vont évidemment alimenter la discussion. Néanmoins, le fait que le processus entre maintenant dans une phase plus cruciale incite certaines organisations syndicales européennes représentant les dockers à faire pression pour faire entendre leur point de vue et ce via une interruption de travail ce mardi, de 12 à 15 h.
  • Rhin d’Acier: a-t-on bien mesuré le coût des travaux à l’est de Roermond?
    Vendredi dernier, les ministres des Transports des Pays-Bas, de Belgique et d’Allemagne ont pris quelques “accords de travail” en vue d’arriver à une décision concernant la réactivation du Rhin d’Acier. Cette décision devrait tomber le 15 octobre prochain, lors du Conseil Transports. Il serait bon qu’entre-temps, on ait des indications sur le coût des travaux de déviation à hauteur de Roermond et de traversée des zones sensibles. Ce coût risque en effet d’être faramineux et d’être économiquement totalement injustifié.
  • Les Etats-membres ne pourront aider les compagnies aériennes qu’au niveau des assurances
    Réunis à Liège samedi dernier sous la présidence du ministre belge Didier Reynders, les ministres européens des Affaires économiques et des Finances ont décidé que les Etats-membres de l’UE ne pourront pas subventionner leurs compagnies aériennes en difficultés dans le but de compenser l’impact des attentats terroristes perpétrés aux Etats-Unis. S’ils le souhaitent, les Etats-membres sont toutefois autorisés à couvrir les risques de guerre et d’attentats terroristes via des garanties d’Etat pour des crédits et ce, pour une période d’un mois au moins. Les compagnies aériennes sont cependant tenues à payer une prime “raisonnable”.
  • L’armement Agaat met le troisième Olievinker en service
    L’armement Agaat va mettre une troisième unité de soutage en service dans le port d’Anvers dans une quinzaine de jours. Le “Olievinker III”, a été baptisé par Alexander Verdonck sur le chantier naval CASCO de Hemiksem, où la coque originaire de Russie sera achevée dans les jours à venir. Les travaux de finition ont débuté en mai dernier.
