Contrairement à ce que laisse entendre le communiqué de presse, les entreprises-soeurs Eurogate Distribution GmbH et Jeschke Spedition GmbH, ne sont pas impliquées dans la vente. Selon un porte-parole, APL Logistics est à la recherche d’autres acquisitions en Europe, les pays ciblés étant le Benelux, le Royaume-Uni, la France et le pourtour méditerranéen.

    La France peut se targuer d’être présente sur la scène du liner mondial avec un mega-carrier, car telle est effectivement la dimension acquise par son armement CMA CGM, qui figure désormais dans le peloton de tête des grands du secteurs et dont les résultats de l’exercice 2000 atteignent des records. Lors de la réunion annuelle des conseils de direction du Holding CMA CGM et de CMA CGM S.A., les résultats officiels de l’exercice ont été présentés: chiffre d’affaires de 13,2 milliards de FRF (+39%), multiplication par deux du bénéfice opérationnel du holding à 795 millions de FRF, et progression du résultat net à 702,4 mio. de FRF, contre 311,9 mio. pour l’exercice 1999.
  • Les entreprises ne croient guère aux synergies entre ports
    Le secteur privé de l’Eurégion de l’Embouchure de l’Escaut ne croit pas que dans le contexte actuel, il existe un fort potentiel de synergies entre les cinq zones portuaires - Gand, Ostende, Zeebrugge, Terneuzen et Flessingue* - situées dans cette région. Leur attitude contraste avec les plaidoyers tenus par les administrations portuaires à ce sujet. Les entreprises estiment qu’à plus long terme - vingt ou trente ans - la région évoluera bien vers une seule région portuaire avec - éventuellement - une seule administration portuaire, mais à court terme, elles voient mal comment pourrait se réaliser un rapprochement réel entre les ports ou même une coordination entre les différents projets et stratégies de ceux-ci.

    En octobre 1999, DHL s’est engagé à remplacer sa flotte de Boeing 727 par des 757SF, plus respectueux de l’environnement. A peine 17 mois plus tard, le premier des 44 nouveaux appareils de ce type est livré. Les autres suivront progressivement, de sorte que toute la flotte de Boeing de DHL sera renouvelée pour 2004.
