    March cargo traffic for European airlines dropped 9.5 per cent from the same period last year as capacity cuts following September 11 and changes to summer timetables took effect. 'AEA members' traffic in March was 7.9 per cent lower than in March 2001, although a number of factors combined to influence this figure.

La dernière grève dans ce secteur date d’y il a sept ans et le mouvement fut rapidement solutionné. Cette fois-ci cependant, le contexte économique de l’Allemagne est quelque peu différent, en ce sens que l’économie est actuellement à la traîne.

Au titre de l’exercice 2001 elle a franchi le cap des dix millions de tonnes de marchandises transportées. Cela, pour un chiffre d’affaires de 107,5 millions d’EUR, soit +10,8% par rapport à 2000. De surcroît, le résultat d’exploitation est passé à 6,3 millions d’EUR en 2001, soit +85,3% par rapport aux 3,4 millions d’EUR de l’année 2000. Face à de tels résultats, on comprend que Jacques de Chateauvieux, président du Groupe Bourbon souhaite accélérer en transport de vracs. Ce qui le conduit notamment à envisager l’achat de navires atteignant 55.000 tpl (tonnes de port en lourd).
