En effet, quatre syndicats minoritaires ont décidé d’accepter le compromis proposé par le patronat, tandis que les deux principaux syndicats (la CFDT et la CGT) ont lancé l’offensive en dressant des barrages dont le succès a été variable. Apparemment, la motivation était plus grande dans certains départements que d’autres, certains barrages ayant même dû être levés sous la pression de chauffeurs non grévistes. Le mouvement pourrait s’essoufler assez rapidement, mais compte tenu du contexte social tendu pour le gouvernement de Jean-Pierre Raffarin, il est impossible de faire des estimations pour l’instant. De fait, il n’y a pas que dans le secteur du transport routier que la marmite syndicale bout.

D’un côté comme de l’autre les concessions faites sont importantes. Cet accord qui devait encore être approuvé par les bases respectives, est intervenu un mois avant l’expiration du délai de 80 jours prévu par la loi Taft-Hartley.
