  • Supertankers no easy targets for terrorists
    Supertankers - the hulking, slow-moving ships that transport half the world's oil - have few defences against terrorist hijackers like those envisioned by Osama bin Laden, security experts said on Saturday.
  • Pacific Basin worried on vessel rates till '13
    Pacific Basin Shipping Ltd, Hong Kong's largest operator of dry-bulk vessels, said it was 'concerned' about the outlook for rates through 2013 as a glut of new ships enter service. 'We are concerned about the two years ahead of us,' said chief executive officer Klaus Nyborg at a shipping conference in Imabari, Japan yesterday. The company is 'fairly confident' about the market after that, he said.
