  • Tanker rates for Asian routes seen weakening
Rates for oil tankers on key Asian freight routes are expected to weaken over the next week, pressured by the IEA's release of emergency stockpiles of crude and refined fuel products, shipbrokers said yesterday.
  • US cuts SPR oil minimum delivery size
The US Energy Department on Monday cut the minimum delivery size for the oil that it will try to sell this week from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) that will be delivered by ship. The smaller lot size would make it easier for more US-based ships to transport the oil, and could encourage more bidding by companies interested in taking a smaller amount of reserve oil.
  • Tanker rates on global export routes climb
Refined petroleum tanker rates on top global export routes were mostly firmer on Monday although growing vessel availability put the brakes on earnings gains in the transatlantic market.
