After two consecutive quarters of profits in the last quarter of 2010, the shipping company Finnlines has returned to record a net loss. The period was closed with a net loss of € 3.1 million on revenues of € 139.3 million compared to a net loss of EUR 7.5 million on revenues of € 122.1 million in the fourth quarter of 2009. Operating profit amounted to € 16.0 million compared to EUR 9.3 million in the quarter from October to December 2009.
Finnlines said that in the last quarter of last year's activity has been negatively affected by a number of external factors: the significant presence of ice in the northern Baltic Sea, the ban on overtime for the hours of port companies Finland and the strike of 16 days of the Finnish port - said the company - have forced many to make temporary changes in the schedule as well as transfers and detention services.
Throughout 2010 the company achieved a net profit of EUR 2.2 million and an operating profit of € 85.9 million compared to a net loss of EUR 41.7 million and an operating profit of 37.4 million euro in the previous year. Revenues grew by 13.5% to 561.1 million euro.
Throughout 2010, the company's fleet has carried about 629,000 units of cargo goods (596,000 in 2009), 56,000 cars (38,000), excluding cars with passengers and 2,039,000 tonnes (2,001,000) unitization of loads. Were also transported approximately 648,000 private and commercial vehicles (533,000). Passenger traffic (excluding truck drivers) grew by 44%.
