of Friend International Shipping (DIS), company controlled from of Friendly Society of Spa Navigation, has ordered through operating own controlled of Friend Tankers Limited (Ireland) the construction of two ulterior new tankers of 50.000 gross capacities in tons, Medium Range, to the South Korean ship yard Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co. (HMD).

The ships will be delivered between the end of the 2014 and beginning of 2015 to a price of approximately 32,0 million dollars each. DIS has specified that to the company the possibility was offered to acquire these ulterior ships to competitive prices, through the exercise of an option tied to the contract of purchase of two ships ECO-40 Shallowmaxs announced 26th July (of the 26 July 2012).

DIS has explained that the two ships under construction, beyond to being to double hull and IMO II, belong to a new generation of ships that characterize for consumption many low. In particular, this plan of the HMD derives from the last concept of form hull and propulsive efficiency that carries the ships to a 6-7 saving tons to the fuel day regarding the average of the existing fleet of the same type. Currently the fleet of Friend Tankers Limited today comprises 39 tankers (Medium Range - MR and Handysize product tankers) all to double hull, with a medium age 6,2-year-old.
